The King of New Orleans

Our first recipe for King Cake coffee is warm and sweet with just a hint of spice. It embodies the decadence of New Orleans with bourbon and coffee. This drink takes the ODB (Old Duck Blind) to new heights! Bonus points if you torch the top with fire for toasted hints of warmth.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz hot King Cake coffee
  • 8 oz Knob Creek Bourbon
  • 2 oz heavy whipping cream
  • 2 oz Grade B maple syrup
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • .25 teaspoon real vanilla

Directions

This drink is pretty easy to make. You'll just need a pour-over coffee maker and the above ingredients! In the coffee maker, you will brew half a pot of strong King Cake coffee. For the perfect coffee water ratio, fill your coffee filter with ground coffee as usual. Just use half the amount as usual in your coffee pot water reservoir to make 16 oz of coffee. Now, add the bourbon, cream, vanilla, and maple syrup into your coffee pot. Pour 4 oz of above mix heated into each glass or coffee mug. This recipe makes four drinks. For foam on top, dry shake heavy cream mixed with a few drops of Kahlua. Or, you can steam/froth some whole milk if you prefer. Layer it over the top, dust with a pinch of sugar and cinnamon, and you are all set!

Hot French Quarter White Russian

This next New Orleans coffee drink takes a classic White Russian recipe but served warm with a caffeine kick. Plus, it adds a taste of the French Quarter. It can be made with King Cake Coffee or Chicory Coffee depending on which flavors you think will blend best! For those craving sweet spice, using our King Cake coffee flavor is ideal. Or, for classic New Orleans flavor, our Chicory Coffee is the perfect choice!

Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups freshly brewed coffee
  • 1/2-cup heavy cream or whole milk
  • 1/2-cup Kahlúa or other coffee-flavored liqueur, or to taste
  • vodka to taste
  • Whipped cream for topping

Directions

In a saucepan stir together the brewed coffee of your choice, the 1/2 cup of heavy cream, the Kahlúa, and the vodka. Now, heat the mixture over moderate heat until it is nice and hot. Divide the mixture among ceramic coffee mugs and garnish each drink with whipped cream. So easy!

Cold Brew Mardi Gras Time Martini

This is a classy coffee cocktail with a rounded flavor profile and a boost of caffeine to keep the party going. The taste of the cold brew coffee is lightly sweetened with sugar and enhanced by using French Press Chicory Coffee (sold here) or King Cake Flavored Coffee. It is then polished to perfection with rich coffee liqueur flavors!

Ingredients

  • 2 oz of cold brew coffee
  • ½ oz simple syrup (vanilla is fine too)
  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz coffee liqueur

Directions

To make this drink, brew cold your concentrated coffee using ground or French Press style beans. You can make cold brew with espresso shots poured over ice or extra-strength coffee chilled in the fridge for 30 minutes. To turn our flavored coffee into an espresso-like grind, just put grounds or beans in the coffee grinder until finely ground. To make your cold brew a cocktail, add simple syrup, vodka, and liqueur in a shaker or tumbler with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain the drink into a martini glass and you're all done! You can also garnish this drink with coffee beans or an orange wedge.
